Friday, February 27 2009 By natalia - Partnerships
The Visegrad Summer School is a two-week educational programme organised by The Villa Decius Association, which provides an interdisciplinary learning space for young Czech, Hungarian, Polish and Slovak students, and for their peers from other Central and Eastern European countries.
The programme consists of lectures, panel debates and seminars on issues and challenges relevant to the Visegrad Group region, the European Union and the CEE countries. The topics cover current social, economic, political and cultural issues, such as global poverty, financial crisis, energy security, social responsibility of the media sector as well as European and national cultural identity and heritage.
As former editions have shown the Visegrad Summer School is an unique forum to build relations of acceptance, friendship and cooperation between young people, who will form political, cultural and economic elites of their countries in the near future.
Organisers provide educational programme and materials, special events, accommodation and board and local transportation in Cracow. Participants cover only travel costs to and from Cracow, their own insurance and the registration fee of 50 Euro.
The deadline for submitting applications is March 31st,2009.

6-19 lipca 2008 Willa Decjusza, Kraków, ul. 28 Lipca 1943 r. 17A

VII edycję Letniej Szkoły Wyszehradzkiej zainauguruje wykład Przyszłość Unii Europejskiej, poświęcony traktatowi reformującemu i budżetowi UE, który wygłosi Paweł Świeboda z Centrum Strategii Europejskiej demosEuropa. Następnie, odbędzie się debata pt. Wizja Europy z udziałem Ambasadorów Czech, Słowacji i Węgier.
Szczególnie polecamy otwarte debaty panelowe i wieczory filmowe w kinie Mikro. Szczegóły na stronie www.villa.org.pl

The event was organized also to remind Poles that not much has changed in Belarus and it is still not a free nation.

The Trans-topical Everything
Thursday, March 6 2008 By natalia - What's up in Warsaw?

Open from Friday, March 7th, 19.00h, Galeria Wejście, Until 4.04.08
Did we witness EVERYTHING in art? Is EVERYTHING possible for modern artists? "The Trans-topical Everything" exhibition links different styles and elements from various fields creating strange new objects of art that can't be even described as 'collage' but 'bricolage', which in French means making machines with no respect for rules of engineering. Interested? For more info about this exhibition go to CSW website.

Warsaw: a city of contrasts
Monday, March 3 2008 By WM - Spots

Photo: Tomasz Kaczor
Warsaw is a city of contrasts, where modernism meets history, and western and eastern influences melt together. Only about 40% of the city inhabitants where born in here. Historical buildings often stand side-by-side with new skyscrapers. Just like this old, built before the II World War house at Sienkiewicza 4 street, in the city center. Over its closed messy backyard (popularly called a "well") one can see a shining blue skyscraper. Quite an extraordinary view.
